How to join us

To join as a full member...

The procedure for joining our club will depend on your bowls experience (if any) and how you have learned about us - e.g. having attended one of our open days or taster sessions, seen an advertisement, been introduced by a member or friend, just called in to have a look etc.  Whatever it was, we will plan a route to membership that matches your experience or aspirations.

Having looked around the club we would normally require you to have at least one 2-hour introduction sessions with one of our coaches.  If needed, we can lend you bowls and flat-soled shoes for that session.  People with absolutely no past experience will normally require up to three such sessions.  These sessions will comprise basic explanation of the rules of bowls, the etiquette and conduct required when on the rink, dress code when playing in a league , etc.  The small cost of these sessions will be refunded when you subsequently take out full membership.

That's it really - just  a simple form to complete and payment of the subscription (plus £5 if you want to rent a locker for a year) and you will be a member of this great club.

Members who are new to bowls may continue to borrow club bowls for a limited period whilst they acquire their own set (having decided what make and size of bowls they want).

New members can also choose to add their names to the 'New Bowlers' sheet on our members' notice board to help meet and play practice sessions with other members.

Or to join as a social member...

Basically, having looked around the club and seeing what excellent value being a social member is, all that is necessary is for you to complete our simple application form and pay the annual social subscription.

Where else can you get such good value for your money?

Coaching

Our coaching team ensures that new bowlers receive adequate guidance before playing independently, fostering both skill development and confidence as well as good etiquette and fundamental knowledge of the laws of the sport.

For experienced bowlers, taster sessions allow the coaching team to assess their abilities quickly and integrate them into the club's playing standards.  The team also offers help and guidance to any members to help them resolve a particular issue or improve their game generally.

This approach ensures all players, regardless of experience, are well-prepared and supported on the rinks.
